Let Go

It's no secret that we all go through different things in life. We all have highs and lows and plateaus. Sometimes life is awesome and everything is going well and sometimes life just sucks. Unfortunately, we often dwell on the bad times. We don't let ourselves enjoy life. So what do we do when we get in our own way of happiness?
One of my favorite songs of all time is "It is Well" by Bethel Music and Kristene Dimarco. The bridge in the song says "So let go my soul and trust in Him/ the waves and wind still know His name." The chorus of the song talks about how through everything our eyes are in God and through everything, it is well. But what does this mean for us?
Let's start with the bridge. "So let go my soul and trust in Him/ the waves and wind still know His name." So what do we do when life gets hard? Let go. Let go of the pain that was caused by someone. Maybe it was a close friend or family member. Let go. Let go of the bad memories. Remember that time when... no. Let go. Let go of the fears and worries that you let consume you. But what if... no! Let go. Let it all go and trust Him. If Jesus can calm a storm with His hand, then just imagine what He can do with the "storm" in your life. Isn't that an amazing thought? Trust God. He is in control. So just let go.
Now let's talk about the chorus. "Through it all, through it all my eyes on you. And through it all, through it all it is well." It is well. Even when life gets hard, we need to keep our eyes on God. And even when we feel like we're in the eye of a storm, it is well. God is in control and it is well. Just let go and trust God. Let go.
We all struggle with things. It's life. It's not meant to be easy. But newsflash, life gets harder when we hold on. We hold on to the things that really don't matter and we only hurt ourselves. So I encourage you to let go. Let go of the hurt and the fears and the pain and the sadness and the anger. Trust that God is in control. He can calm any storm. He has everything in His hands. So why hold on when you don't need to?
Let go.
